Nottingham CityCare wanted to understand what their service users and the wider community expected from them as their community health provider to help shape their organisational strategy for 2025 onwards.
CityCare asked us to design, undertake, analyse and report on community engagement exercises, making sure we included a diverse range of people from Nottingham. CityCare was especially interested in hearing from minority communities, whilst ensuring the research included all major communities in Nottingham.
Our approach included:
- Reviewing CityCare’s previous strategies, feedback forms, and demographic and socio-economic data to target the right communities.
- Identifying key community groups and assets in Nottingham and providing CityCare with a map and contact database for ongoing engagement.
- Conducting an online survey with 349 responses.
- Holding six focus groups with 70 participants from local community organisations and groups, 64% of whom were ethnically diverse.
- Organising and running two pop-up events at a supermarket and a library.
Our research gave CityCare a clear understanding of the community’s needs, concerns, priorities, and vision for future services, as well as potential areas for compromise due to budget constraints.
