A framework for assessing social value of greenbelt land in Greater Manchester

In January 2019, Greater Manchester Combined Authority issued the Greater Manchester’s Plan for Homes, Jobs and the Environment (a Spatial Framework). This is a joint development plan providing strategic planning guidance for the 10 Greater Manchester Authorities to 2035.

The plan recognises the importance of greenbelt land in Greater Manchester and the ecosystems services they provide; including environmental assets and services, tourism and recreation and agriculture.

Forever Consulting was appointed to identify how Social Value can be considered as an additional factor for assessing identified landscapes and created an assessment framework including themes of transport, access, environment, demography, tourism, recreation and economy.
